Honda announced the recall of over 1 million vehicles after the replacement driver’s side Takata airbag inflators were proved to be manufactured incorrectly. An investigation revealed that all inflators created at Takata’s Monclova, Mexico facility were compromised as a result of manufacturing process errors—requiring Honda to be able to isolate vehicle genealogy by a single stop in the supply chain to eliminate compromised airbags.
